Initiated by Jérôme Lindon, the ‘Manifesto of the 121’ stated the right of soldiers in the Algerian conflict to be conscientious objectors. When it was published, Roland Laudenbach of Editions de la Table ronde responded with the ‘Manifesto of French intellectuals in favour of resisting abandon.’ (October 1960).
