La Grande Mystification du Congo Kinshasa : les crimes de Mobutu

Cléophas Kamitatu, Maspero, orignial edition, 1971, Archives Maison des Passages

Three essays published by Maspero were the object of a ban.

In 1971, La Grande Mystification du Congo Kinshasa: les crimes de Mobutu by Cléophas Kamitatu was banned. But the Congolese government’s pressure on France to obtain that measure embarrassed the Minister of the Interior. L’Ascension de Mobutu (1974) by the Belgian lawyer Jules Chalmé further complicated the difficult relations between the former Belgian colonial power and Zaire.
