Les Prétoriens

Jean Larteguy, Éditions de la Table Ronde, original edition, 1964, Coll. Bfm - Limoges

Popular literature in favour of French Algeria. A pilot officer who became a journalist – he received the Albert Londres Prize in 1955 – Pierre-Lucien Otsky, penname Jean Lartéguy, wrote several successful novels in favour of the colonization of Algeria, which were published by Presses de la Cité. They attracted a wide readership, much greater than the militant essays by the authors with Editions de Minuit or Maspero.
