Le Petit livre rouge des écoliers et des lycéens

Bo Dan Andersen, Soren Hansen, Jasper Jensen, François Maspero, original edition, 1971, Coll. Bfm - Limoges

In 1971, François Maspero published Le Petit Livre rouge des écoliers et des lycéens by Danish authors: two teachers and a psychologist.  The authors treat sexuality, alcohol, abortion, parental authority, drugs, punishment, and the educational system… without encouraging subversion and without paternalism. The book was published in Switzerland, where it was the object of prosecution, as it was in Italy and in England. In France, The Minister of the Interior used Article 14, which concerns foreign works, to order its seizure. The translators (Lonni and Étienne Bolo) and bookshops were taken to court then acquitted. In spite of the ban, the review Esprit (June 1971) printed excerpts from the book which was praised as an ‘extraordinary gift, sensible with refreshing pedagogical qualities’. .
