Law n°70-643 of July 17, 1970 increasing the guarantee of citizens' individual rights, third part: protection of privacy

Journal officiel de la République française, July 19, 1970, Légifrance

‘Everyone has the right to protect their privacy,’ (law of July 17, 1970). Since the 1960s, the protection of privacy has been a more and more momentous juridical question. Legal proceedings and condemnations on this subject have increased and the world of publishing has not escaped the trend. At the same time, judges in France have established a ‘right to protect one’s image’ which is ‘often cited in addition to the accusation of violation of privacy.’ (Emmanuel Pierrat).
