Three billion revolutionary sexualities

The Women’s Liberation Movement (in France, MLF) and the Homosexual Front for Revolutionary Action (in France, FHAR) were both created in the same year, 1971.
Following on from feminist militancy, the gay and lesbian movement became more radical.
The FHAR increasingly took action against those who opposed abortion, those who claimed that homosexuality was a ‘painful problem’ or a medical issue: all the ‘hetero-cops’, on the left and far left, or right-wing.
Its Rapport contre la normalité (Champ Libre, 1971) was judged scandalous by the Supervisory Committee who detected a proselytizing ambition.
Trois milliards de pervers. La grande encyclopédie des homosexualités (1973) treats paedophilia, homosexuality, prostitution and transvestism… with illustrations, testimonies and analyses.
The book, emblematic of its times, was seized.
